Hi Guys
New to forum, have HK Monaro with paint code
585-6459
Trim 599-14x

Does this mean black exterior and teal blue interior?

Thanks for your help

599 is Warrigal Black. 14X is Light Teal trim.

Looks like an earlier HK as it has 585 paint re-finish code but for whatever reason they overlap a bit.

Hey thanks for that, would it be a very common combination do you think, apart from on the net can’t say I have seen a black one in the flesh and would they normally have the stripe work or stripes?

Any CTV colour is rare compared to Stock Order colours. Firstly to be a Colour/Trim Variation it had to be an ordered car which is uncommon in itself, most cars were Stock Order (as in built by GMH for sale). Then it had to be a colour variation away from the standard colour charts. Having said that, Warrigal Black is probably the most common, if not clise to it, of the non-standard colours.
Is it a Monaro or a GTS or a GTS327?

Car is a hk gts 307 and P/glide , engine long gone, just had trouble deciphering paint codes as most things found on net in relation to Warragal black point back to engine bays etc in that colour. To have a body tag showing exterior black with 14x interior (light blue) seems an unusual colour combination.

G'day DeezalHk68,

I'm also in Auckland πŸ‘

I have the original GMNZ import ledger for HK Holden's into NZ and there were about 230 HK Monaro/GTS/GTS327 that came here as brand new vehicles.

I cannot see any Warrigal Black cars listed, so assume that your HK is a later private import?

Is it a Pagewood car? What number? If it is Pagewood build I can pretty close estimate its original engine number.

Yes car was imported and reg in NZ in 75, have Eng #on doco 30714235K1211 if written correctly in the day
Car is no longer black another reason was querying colour on tag, but a bit rough and ready suggest had been repainted in its life, had the 14x interior

Yes, the engine number gave that up. What HK GTS sequence number is it though, like 600-H5?

Cool. It will be late enough to have a 3.36 Salisbury standard. The earl yV8 auto HK GTS were banjos, but around the start of August 3.36 Sals became standard build. You could still order 2.78 or 3.08 banjo though.

I have never seen a Black factory Monaro in my time, is it common or something rare in the sense maybe a handful?

I'd have to get the VIN and chassis number to get a really close estimate.
As I said you won't see many HK GTS or GTS327 outside of the 4 x stock order colours, even the later two added Stock Order colours (Ermine White and Inca Gold) are rarely seen. I know of 2 x black GTS327, one Burgundy GTS and one Woodsman Green GTS327. Yours is the only black GTS I know of. There may be some Fleet order Monaro in odd colours, but my money is Warrigal Black being the most common colour outside of the 6 x standard colours on GTS/GTS327. Its the same with HQ Sandman, black is probably the most common colour outside of the colour chart colours. Remember black was always available as it was always in the system for various jobs on certain cars being built.

That sounds like an awesome car mate! πŸ‘

Do you plan to restore it, or repaint it to Warrigal?

If you need any local help, feel free to reach out to the Early Holden Club of Auckland.

We have some great people in the club with a wealth of HK-T-G knowledge.

It'd be cool to see afew pictures if your able to share πŸ‘Œ

Thanks Wagon Dan, appreciated, car has had a hard life, and sure can tell some stories - was going to LS etc, not too rusty but front work required panel wise but think this changes everything now, but definitely be painting it back to factory colour, running gear etc not numbers matching in regards to engine gone, currently 327
Will probably stick with this. If needed will reach out and next time I see a gathering of your club, will pop in.

Thanks Deezal

Does it still have its Salisbury? That is the bit you can't replace cheaply. You could get a Powerglide for it pretty easily, but in the end you are better off with a TH350 and just use HG Trimatic T-bar or modify a Powerglide one to do the job. A 307 from a Pagewood car won't be too hard to find if that is what you want to use, I just looked through my pile of 307's and I have a 3071404xK1215 which would be from another automatic HK built probably the same week as yours. But they are always for sale, there were 1000's of them made. In the end you might as well keep the 327 though.

Hk1837 tried to pm you but may not have worked,
No to Salisbury, has a 9 inch, was going down a different path, will run 327 for now - extremely lucky chances of finding oe engine are super slim-to nil, but open to building 307 down the track, have original p/glide. Am open to Salisbury as plans look as though they are certainly changing.
