Hi all, need to know a couple of things before i buy a pair of second hand disc's for my XB on friday. I'm buying the early XW-B disc's as they have the smaller hub to fit the rims I've bought. All i need to know is, how thick are the standard disc's supposed to be. And can the disc's from a borgwarner 8 1/4 diff fit on drum BW axles? As a mate broke both axles and bought a comlpete rear, i bought the other cheap and have heaps of drum axles lyin round. The carrier's the same but are the axles? CHEERS FOR ANY INFO

Thats right the drum brake models have a tapered roller bearing while the disk brake models have a double row ball bearing.

I think you're thinking of the 9" there. My disc brake BW diff in my ZH had tapered roller bearings.

Sometimes they put an XY type tapered roller on the disk brake axle with a spacer. BUT factory ZH, both types of disk brake rear axles had the same wide (double row) bearings, I have had both diffs in my car and they run the same bearings and brakes whet

I have glued a bearing back on before with pressed metal repair. Did they charge you double for it because it was a BMW bearing?
