Hi all. I'm trying to remove the windsreen from my fairlane. The manual recommends piano wire to cut through the sealer. I've tried electric guitar strings (i reckon it can't be that different to piano wire), mig wire and fishing trace wire but they all break after a few inches of sawing. Has anyone done this before and are there any tricks to it that could make my life a bit easier? Cheers

Piano wire seems the only thing that'll work without breaking as it's much stronger and has better 'cutting' abilities than guitar strings. I've been using the same piece of piano wire for the last 15 years.... mind you I've only cut out about 50 windscre

One more thing that can make a big difference.... try to keep the car out of the sun and cut the seal when it's as cold as you can get it. Try first thing in the morning before the sun can make the seal very soft..of course if you have the car in a garage

Piano wire is not smooth it has lots of little serrations in it that act as cutters, thats why assassins use it. I have a few lengths of it I haven't used them yet though. If the windscreen is laminated don't even think about using levers or screwdrivers,
