New member here , so my question is what’s the best body filler on the market I’ve got some nasty rust pitting on my one tonner roof and this will be my 3rd go at it…
…after a few months it starts to blister like small pimples,it’s starting to break through the paint which is acrylic, been using septone filler with the fibre glass……also I’ve used 1k primer filler on the car now the question is can I blend 2k primer filler to the edge of the 1k primer filler and will those 2 primer fillers adhere to each other without splitting apart……..any help would be appreciated.

I think I'd be stripping the whole roof, eliminate all the rusted bits and prime/paint the whole roof again. Sounds like it wasn't properly prepared last time. You will otherwise just be doing this over and over again

Where is the rust exactly? Put a photo in an album and attach it to a post.

What @Sandaro said.

If you are just putting filler over the rust spots then it will keep happening. You can sorta make it better by sanding down each rust spot to the metal and then painting over these bare spots. Use the corner of an electric sander and sand right down to the metal, make sure you sand down any ridges where the existing paint/primer might have cracked away. You want it to feel smooth as you run your hand over it. Then paint all the spots. This will give better results but won't be show car quality.

That said, my paint job looks atrocious! Can anyone who has a clue post some info on stripping down and repainting cars? It would be greatly appreciated. My expertise is wet'n'dry and a can of Killrust spray paint!BigGrin

This might help. This isn't the easiest site to add images to.

There is a 'My Albums' link near 'Logout' at the top of the page after you log in.
Click on that.
Add a new album and call it whatever you like.
Add images off of your computer.
Once you have an album, an "Insert Album Image..." icon will appear in the "Post Reply" screen.
This brings up thumbnails of your album images.
Click on an image to add it to your post.
