Just for those of you who may be interested and to answer some of the criticism we have been receiving of late from some quarters I have attached photos of some of the nearly 800 new products we have released this year as displayed in preparation for our distributor AGM being held at our Head office tomorrow and Sunday.

Currently we have another 400 or so products under development or in the final stages of manufacture, these include retooled versions of the HK, HT, HG Monaro and HQ-HZ GTS steering wheels as shown below in the attached images.

With the line up of parts awaiting action we expect we might introduce upwards of 1000 new items next year.

I think by whatever measure you use that is a pretty fair effort

Regards

While very little of it suits my own interest (Commodore) it's great to see the huge variety of new product, and the shift across from the "near enough" attitude of the past, to the "must be right" attitude that Rares have now adopted.
Cheers,

Mick

Settle down. How can you tell from those photos of packets spread out across the table. Wait until they have been seen in hand and restorers have fitted them up before we come to that conclusion.

Fair call Simon however I would like to point out the product shown are those we have released over the past 12 months not those pending release or in development and as such the "oldest" have been in the hands of, and presumably fitted by, restorers for a year now while obviously the latest have only been in the market for a month or so. The release dates are on the white sheets visible on the top edges of a number of the photographs.

Because I took the time to take a look at Rares HQ, and was given a tour.
A number of products were shown to me, and things explained like "on our old one this is wrong, but the new die will correct that" etc etc.

I was also asked for input on some new products (commodore related) because they want to make sure they were 100% correct, unlike the mistakes made in the past.

It takes a big man (or business) to admit they were wrong, and an even bigger person to try to correct it. It won't happen overnight, but they are making a huge effort to complete the mammoth task of fixing all the past wrongs.

Note: I have not been co-erced or rewarded for my posts, I'm simply expressing my opinion based on what I've seen with my own eyes over the last 12 months.

Cheers,

Mick

Well said Mick. It is easy to sit back and criticize. I am sure the guys at Rares will work with anyone who has positive information and feedback. Constructive criticism is a appreciated for any research and development. Who was it said "don't give me problems, give me solutions"

ive noticed someone feeding your new HK GTS st/wheel on ebay for $449 without boss kit or horn cap

the last 2 received no bids (item 170732828870 & 170725338133)

does this mean th price will be reduced?

when should we expect the HT/G one to pop up??

are you supplying a new horn cap & boss kit or just th one already available??

regards DD

Dave,
Sorry to disappoint you but the wheels you mention are not our new HK wheels since we don't as yet have stock of them, and in fact don't expect them until early February next year.
We may however airfreight some for the Summernats if production is finished in time.
The new wheels will be supplied complete with the cap, insert, boss, screws and springs etc but will not include the horn contact/indicator cancelling fitting.
From looking at the ads, the wording and the seller's history it appears the vendor is not somebody normally involved in the spare part game.
At this stage the plan is for all the GTS/GTR wheels, including the HT-HG and HQ-HZ ones to be available in early February.
Please don't hesitate to give me a call if you want to discuss the details further.

This guy in the US who this Aussie guy has bought them from has been selling these wheels on teh US ebay for years .
They used to be $225 and then $200 , now lower .
His auction always states they are "not quite right" but he does not know where they are really from either . Sounds suss .

so dave, will th rarespares ones be from this manufacturer?

do you have a price of what yours will be worth?

will the horn cap be cast alloy (wrinkled texture?) or smooth & wrinkle painted??

Hi Dave,
I don't know who made the wheels you bought up so I can't comment as to whether ours will be from the same manufacturer however I would doubt it very much for a number of reasons.
While they are quite a large maker of steering wheels they have never indicated to us they make anything similar to the wheels they are making for us.
Also they had to overcome a number of issues to get them to the standard we wanted so I doubt they have any recent experience with anything like them.
As for the boss kits I will have to check up and get back to you next week.
Cheers
Dave

Hi Dave,
Further to your question re the wheels, this time around we have been very fortunate in that for these wheels we have been able to source the original GMH drawings so all components have been made to them.
The cap and adaptor have the grain cast into them rather than being wrinkle painted.
The boss is a smooth finish satin black as per the drawing and the original sample we have here.
Regards
Dave.
