I have a HJ coupe and have fitted new nylon rollers to the window winding mech on the rear R/H side. I am having heaps of trouble getting the window to line up. The rollers are sloppy in the tracks. It would seem the bracket assembly the nylon rollers slide up and down are worn. Could this be possible? I have checked the L/H side, while this window still lines up, if you grab the glass when it is half down you can move it quite a bit.
Anybody had this problem? Can you buy the track mech? Checked rare spares list and they do not have.
Any ideas ?? Thanks

I had this exact same problem when I fitted tinted glass to my brother's car.
I even took the brackets and rollers off the non tint glass, which was tight as, and fitted it to the tinted glass, same problem. Even tried the spare runners, same deal. The biggest problem was the rolers would not hold the window on the track when fully up, allowing you to wriggle the window and them lower it. We fixxed that part but still not 100%.
With some adjustment made it reasonably good. Our long term solution is to have a set of oversized rollers made.
The best part about being wrong is the pleasure it brings to others.

Warren, thanks for your responce. You answered what I thought re oversize rollers.I think I'll just try to get the best fit possible under the circumstances. it may also be a case where when you have the outer rubber and inner felt strips in place, this may also aid in holding the glass more firmly.

Fixed, for those who have had a similar problem, I ended up welding a thin piece of steel to where the rollers have worn a groove. This fixed the issue of where the window "parked" when at the top. It now sits spot on with the front door glass when the window is fully wound up.

I would be interested in some pictures, as our runners worked with one set of glass but not with the tinted glass, even though we fitted the rollers from the clear glass to the tinted glass.

Sorry, Warren, might be a bit hard as window is now in and assembled and working.
Basically, just a thin strip of 1mm, 5mm wide and about 150mm long , only welded in the top section of the track. This was the critical bit as the window needed to sit at the right angle when the glass was up.
