HI FELLAS CAN SOMEONE HELP OUT WITH THE DIFFRENCE IN A M20 AND A M21 GEARBOX FROM A 72-73 TORANA GTR 6CYL BOX HOW MANY RINGS SHOULD IT HAVE THANKS COREY

I DO NO THEY MADE A M21 6CYL BOX FOR FOR GTR THAT WAS WHAT THEY HAD IN THE 72-73 BATHURST XU1 THAT WHY THESE GEARBOXES ARE HARD TO COME BY.

double knotch is a good chance its a M21 box, 6 or 8.. just to keep it relatively simple

if you do a search on this you will find there are some exceptions to the rule in more detail.

Remove the side cover and youll see a number, M20 ends in 496, M21 ends in 497.

No idea how to tell if its from GTR or XU1.

The number PISTOF speaks of is stamped on the cluster gear.

Its an M22 6cyl box (commonly called a 1-tonner box). Very wide ratio box. Its not a GTR box. These were normal M20 boxes.
