It has now been 10 years since the curent system was developed and introduced at the Monaro Nationals in 2000. Since then the HDT club have used and modified it for their use and through Terry many Holden groups are also using it.

Although there has been some fine tuning, I am looking for input about how right or wrong it is and suggestions to improve for future events, not just Monaro. Note this is for Stock/Original/Authentic class judging, NOT concours.

Also wanting input as to what allows a car to be includied in this class. As discussed, some early club allow disc brakes, seat belts etc. These do not matter in the later models as they have them as standard or optional.

As it stands at the moment for Monaro models all consumables can be replaced, ie hoses, clamps, water pump, starter, alternator, radiator, battery, tyres, plugs, leads etc. These items do attract attention during the judging process though. I suppose what we need is a list of items that would put you out of this class ie:

Radio
Extractors
carby change
Chrome
air cleaner change
alloy wheels
etc

Hi Warren,

In my opinion the list of items you have mentioned pretty much puts the car into a factory improved class.
ie: if you want your car put into the stock original authentic class its not that hard to change the aircleaner, carby, chrome and al

Hi Warren,

Your list seems fine and I like the comment regarding the consumables. Some items must be replaced on a car for it to remain legal and roadworthy.

Hi Paul,

Warrens list puts a car into a modified class and not a factory improved class

Gday Mike,

We could discuss classes till the cows come home lol

Lets say for instance there was outstanding HK GTS 327 Monaro that was restored to concourse condition that had extractors?. What class would u put that in. It had everything except fo

Hello Warren,

Wouldnt the list of items that put you out of the class be too big? Basically anything that wasnt "factory" fitted would be on the list and put you out. As you say, consumables are just that. Being a Holden, replacement parts are too easy

Hello Paul,

It is in the description of the class that will explain without confusion what is in and what is not.

The HK GTS 327 you mention will not make the cut in "Factory Authentic" (not Concours) for a number of reasons. Not only the exhaust ma

Hi Paul,

It is my experience that long discussions result from a lack of information. As others have said, a clear desription of a class will prevent any confusion over what cars are included and what cars are excluded from that class.

Looking at wh

Hi
I understand and agree it is difficult to draw the line. Its not easy to get an older car accurate and I agree that things like tyres/hoseclamps etc should be exempt. The more complete a car is in its accuracy the better it should fare. So a car with

I have a question, a well restored car with new aftermarket hoses, clamps, water pump, starter, alternator, radiator, battery, tyres, plugs and leads as well as new repro door seals, windscreen seals, badges, wheel trims, door handles as so on, is up agai

Hi Les.

This is where an original unmolested car will beat the restored car every time & is precisely what factory authenticity is all about.

Generally speaking, aftermarket & repro parts are not good enough for factory authentic or concours. Most o

Some very interesting points here. The words original and stock sometimes mean the same to some people, and different to others. Some people get a bit wound up about it.

I am glad I only get put in modified class. I opt for non-judged if I can at a sho

Dr Terry, that sounds pretty close for me. How about letting the owners decide the class they wishes to enter their car. Have 3 basic classes, 1; Stock, Custom & Concours, Stock, meaning as it would have rolled off the assembly line and to be judged ONLY o

Hi Les.

Yes, I agree my statement was perhaps a bit too broad, but this is why I said generally.

I wasnt in any way denigrating Rares Spares. By & large, your company does a good job & the products are definitely improving with time, but Im not just

Yes Les, all good points.

I would be happy to help out with any repro parts if required.

Merry Christmas to all on Fastlane & all at Rare Spares.

Yes it is difficult to classify and judge cars. Under our current system Les, a non restored, as you put it "with faded lenses and perished rubbers but all the parts are original and they expect to win with a S##t heap" would win.

Now I know that this
