Looking to buy a Rochester carby part no 7029283 to suit type 2 hk monaro

Make sure you buy one off a HK. The same number also suits HT and HG but the carb is stamped differently. So far I have found three types and a few different Julian date codes. I have the second and third types at home but they are HT only. |

I've only ever seen one, for sale about 2 years ago on Ebay. I bid up to $1300 but got outbid. Same carby popped up in WA on Gumtree about 4 months ago again as a swap for another. It disappeared after a few days.
The only other one of its kind I saw on the 1st HT GTS350 produced, the 1-H5 Verdoro green car. I think it may be the only HT (or one of the few HT) to get the 2nd type HK carby. Other early HT GTS350 seem to have got a different number style. At the time we were chasing the 2nd type 327 carby on Ebay for 4-H5 (Platinum car off the cover of the second edition of Norn Darwin's book) but I later found one of the very early HT carbs (which I still have) for it but Ben sold the car and the new owner didn't seen too worried that he didn't have the right carby. |

Ive seen a couple on ebay over the last year and a half, one of them sold for $2500. What exact numbers must be on the carby. Is it just the 729283 stamped vertically on the body ?? Edited by user Sunday, 4 September 2016 4:58:18 PM(UTC)

For HK Type 2 is should only say "7029283" and no picking code like "ZC" or a Date code like in HT . The first few HT 350 Apparently had the full numbered cabs , but that may be a fable . Either way carbs produced in 1969 only had only 5 number if produced by Rochester . Rochester did special runs for Holden , so overruns and excess stock would mean that some of these carbs may have made it on to early HTs . The HT HG carbs normally have 29283 ZC 0719 or other dates . I have recorded somewhere 4-5 different dates . And yes some of the carb batches from memory didn't have the picking code (ZC) Edited by user Wednesday, 16 November 2016 11:19:47 PM(UTC)

The very first HT GTS350's had HK carbs, no fable. 1-H5 which is the first 350 powered HT completed had one. The next lot had no ZC on them, just the date code. 0719 had the ZC but most earlier didn't, I have one of these earlier ones in the shed plus a few other later examples with ZC. Missing the broadcast sheet code isn't confined to ZC's either, the early 308 auto carbs with similar/same date codes are missing them too. |
