have no idea rosenberg as to how it works?
but when the eh,s etc were built, it was aus made, so mostly profits stayed here,and heaps of jobs as well
now it has changed,,
seems to me that if i make a product, and get 90% of it components imported,

Imagine that the laws never changed in 1973 and the Australian auto industry was allowed to run wild with HORSE POWER and Modifications.....hmmmmmm...i wonder what we would have on the streets in 2009????

MR scrap metal. I can remember what the roads looked like up hear in QLD back in 1973. we had a one lane road from Brisbane to Bundaberg, you had to get 2 wheels off in the dirt. when a on coming car came. even the best tyres them days were shocking rubbi

If the poms hadnt got involved in the aussie car industry and the US had instead, we couldve been a LHD nation and been able to import all the US cars without having to do conversions.

I forgot to mention too that our great Australian engineers have developed things that have been adopted by the parent for instance the HB Viva was 2 door only until Holden got to it and made a 4 door HB Torana Then Vauxhall started making 4 door Vivas.

JIM 5.0 i think the RV1 & SV1 valiants were CKD kits, and only assembled hear?
But the XK falcon was only designed in the USA. but i think fully Aussie made apart from the doors ect on the XM-P coupe. and the big 200 CID super pursuit that was imported

The RV1 was fully imported the S series was a CKD kit as were a lot of body parts on early AP5s (still had a LHD wiper cowl and wipers but these are rare).
