Looking into building a stroker 308 and have been looking at cranks, been looking at come and scat cranks, was wandering how strong the cast cranks are compared to the forged 4340s, and how much power and punishment the cast can take? same with the rods I beam or H beam?? most stroker kits avalible are with cast cranks, I beam rods and hypereutecic pistons, how much HP these kits rated to would you be better spending more initial money and having less drama's down the road???

If its for a normally aspirated street engine cast crank, I-beam and hypereutectic pistons are more than adequate.

I have sold and used heaps of SCAT Cast Steel stroker cranks for both Holden and Chev V8s. Never had a problem. Last 308-355 motor used SCAT Cast Steel Crank with SCAT H-Beams, Forged Pistons around 10.5:1 , Small shot of NOS as well. NO DRAMA.!! Ch Edited by user Sunday, 4 January 2009 9:54:00 PM(UTC)

No Problem.
Quality machine work & Balance goes a LONG LONG way.
Chasing 450hp is great (and easily achievable from a stroker 355). But it wont want to be a backyard throw together motor.

Bearing and crank off to the machine shop , dont do it yourself unless your an engine builder . Of course your not otherwise you would have already machined it. Dont chance it too much at stake mate!....cheers
