Hi all. I have a 308 (which is stroked to a 355) with engine number VT433644 and date number 9C4. After a little research this is the conclusion I managed to come to. VT433644 = 1984 VK and 9C4 = 9/3/84 Could someone confirm this for me? Is this motor out of a VK? Build date 9/3/84? Is it a red, blue or black motor? What do the other numbers next to VT mean eg VT433644?
Thanks in advance..
Dave

Also. Could someone recommend a harmonic balancer to suit the above motor? Dave.

The numbers after the "VT" prefix is a sequential number. During the 70 this number was sequential for every engine produced whether it was a 6 or an 8. So it could be the 433644th Commodore engine produced since the VB, have a look at the production figu |
You only have to be in front at the end of the race. |

Does a 355 stroker kit for a 308 stroke to a 350? I always thought it stroked to a 355.

No, 350ci or 5.7L. 355 is the size it becomes if you bore it to 4.030". So if its a standard bore its 350, 4.060" bore is about 360. Same applies to people calling the 3.75" stroker a 383, again thats at 4.030" bore. ___________________________________ Edited by user Tuesday, 27 November 2007 6:58:03 AM(UTC)

VU is a stock VN onwards 5 litre. You might have to pull sump anyway to confirm the stroke.

It would have to be close. VU625xxx is definately a VR V8 (I have recorded large lists of Commodore engine numbers). So VU633xxx is after that, so it should have the stroker reliefs.
You can also check the casting number on the block. Its a little h |

No. the only things on that plate are TRIM, PAINT and TOP from memory and none of that information is archived or known to exist. If the car has original paint in some areas and original trim it can be "guessed" to a high degree of accuracy. The mechanic |

AFAIK in NSW if it has been Engineered already there is no need to get it done again. A blue slip should suffice. Unless the rules have changed.
