I have a 5lt vt v8 Do you need to use head stud sealant on the cylinder head bolts. What is the purpose of this sealant that holden use on the cylinder head bolts on the threads and is it necessary. Can you just tighten the bolts without doing this. And what is the best sealant to use for the side seals for the intake manifols Would Permatex rtv silicon be okay to use. Also Im using a monotorque graphits gasket would it be a good idea to lightly coat the head gasket with aviation gasket glue for added better seal or should i just put it on with no sealant. What do you think

Yes you do, as the bottom of the hole goes into the water jackets, and steam will leak up past the threads under pressure.

I always use a big bead of blue silicon in place of the stupid aftermarket cork front and rear seals that go between the valley cover and the block. I find the cork ones always leak, plus if the heads or block have ben shaved, the silicone allows the vall
