What is inside the canister? All of the exploded parts views I have show nothing inside. Canister exploded view

Thank you both for the replies. :-)
I remember it being called a charcoal canister so was expecting to see an indication of such on the diagrams.
Try as I might with Google I can't find what the inside looks like. Does the charcoal ever lose effectiveness and need to be replaced?
