That isn't the coil. It's the pollution switch that turns vacuum advance on and off.

I assumed obv incorrectly that this coil bracket would be correct & the little tit on the back looks to be in the right spot even to line up with the notch in the casting

Mine doesnt have that pollution switch anywhere
