Is the tail shaft for a V8 (253) trimatic to banjo diff the same as a V8 (307) powerglide to a banjo? I have a HT Holden shop manual which says the tailshaft for a powerglide/307 should be yellow in colour but the colour is long gone. Thanks.

They are different. HK-HT 307 powerglide with banjo is a pink shaft, 55.35" long. Yellow 253/308 trimatic with banjo shaft is 56.08" long. The pink shaft is the same one used in HT-HG with 253, M21 and banjo.

Not trying to be difficult, as I apreciate the advice, but the Holden HT shop manual supplement I have says for 307 (and 253/308 for that matter) / powerglide it is yellow and on the page after it says yellow is 56.08. It doesn't have any reference to trimatic transmission. In the HK shop manual it says for 307 / automatic it is 55.41 (pink). Any idea why this would be?

Trimatic was also in HT, just late examples hence why it probably isn't in the shop manual.

Not all 307 and powerglide will be pink, just those with banjos. If the car had a 10 bolt the shaft is different (can't remember the colour, maybe dark green).

I doubt you'd ever find a 308 Saginaw banjo factory combo, only 253 Saginaw should have the pink shaft.
