G'Day All

I recently purchased an original HG Kingswood Utility with Factory 202, and I'm trying to find out a couple of details.

1. Would this vehicle have had carpet or a floor mat in the cabin?

2. What colour would the ply floor and rails in the back been painted?

3. In 1972 when this vehicle was first registered, would anyone have any idea of what the original tyre size and brand been?

4. With it being a factory 202, what stickers / decals would have been on the rocker cover? and in the remainder of the engine bay?

I'm just trying to make the vehicle as authentic as I can, but I'm finding it very difficult to find out original type info.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards

Scott

Nice car Scott. I've been looking for a V8 post HQ release HG for a long time, only ever seen 6cyl cars.

1. As far as I can tell there was carpet option for HG commercials. HG Passenger vehicle ordering procedure lists option B30 (floor carpet) as only available on Kingswood sedan. There is no mention of B30 in the commercial vehicle ordering procedure (where you ordered a ute or van).

2. No idea.

3. Again from the HG commercial vehicle ordering procedure The standard tyre fitment for HG commercials was 7.35 x 14 x 6 ply tubeless. There was only 2 x optional tyres:
7.35 x 14 x 6ply with tubes - option XT1.
2/7.35 x 14 x 6ply wintertread - option code P25. With P25 you got 2 x wintertread tyres on the rear, fronts were standard.

4. I would guess as per early HQ for engine stickers. Engine bay should be as per normal late HG. All the HG commercials built post HQ passenger vehicle release were built from stockpiled bits as far as I know.

Hope this helps.

Just going by your photo there, you seem to be missing the vertical stainless 'hockey stick' stainless moulding from the pillar. Only Kingswoods had this. Also your hubcap centres should be red and there should be black painted on the inner end of the fender between the eyebrow mould and headlight surround. Kingswoods had stainless mouldings surrounding the windscreen. In the photo yours has a Belmont rubber. You'll need a Trico washer pump too on the wiper motor as it is a Kingswod, not Belmont. Only Belmont had the motor on the washer bottle.

Is it a Belmont with Kingswood badges?

Might be best if you post up the numbers from the big ID tag so we can tell for sure.

G'Day Guys

This information you are all giving me is invaluable.

In respone to Edelbrock1 comments, I believe it is definately a Kingswood. I have the original owners manual which has the matching engine number etc snd refers to the vehicle as a 1972 HG Kingswood Utility. So I don't think the question of whether it's a Kingswood is relevent.

It's only done 50,000 miles, before the previous owner had it resprayed, so I don't know why some of these moulding would be missing.

HKTG Parts Recovery - Thanks for the info. I'm currently chasing another Kingswood Ute, so that should be able to provide the parts I'm missing. And the windscreen is about to come out to fit a new headlining, so that's an easy fix as well. Hopefully the windscreen moulding on the new ute is in reasonable nick.

HK1837 - Thanks for the info. I'm going to stick with the carpet anyway, and I'll chase down some HQ engine bay stickers and see how they look.

Thanks all
Regards

Scott
