Been hinting to "she who must be obeyed" that I would like to upgrade the VX, lately we have been using our son in laws BA Falcon LPG tabletop and she likes the concept except for the cabin storage (read shopping stowage) I on the other hand like the LPG, lol.

Today she spied a VZ SS Crewman Thunder, "Oh, I don't mind that" she say's, bear in mind that this is only the second time in history that she has actually looked at a car and said that, married men will understand. I said "that's a V8" and she said "don't care I like it" and then she said "I'd like a grey one exactly like that one", think I musta died and gone to heaven.

When I got home I opened my copy of Dr T's "60 Years of Holden" book to suss this out, need to know exactly what I'm looking for. I'm now slightly confused, VZ SS Crewman is 8VK43 (A9F) and the Thunder is 8VK43 (A9F & A9V).

Is there a way of isolating a Thunder as opposed to an by SS looking at the tags?

build date might do it due to holden wanting to get rid of them??

i had a vzthunder my mate had the vz ss and the low down torque of the 6.0l compared to his 5.7 had me well in front by the end of the first gear change.

I loved that car, wish i still had it.

Make sure you get a 2006 VZ, as you get a 6.0L. I'd always buy an auto as they tow more and are more practical but the manuals are more fun. VZ's should have a 4L65E box too in the autos. Thunders were just a special edition that had a few more goodies in them. Not sure what it meant in VZ but in VEII (recently) it got you leather edges seats, IQ system and 19" wheels over the SS. Note that Thunder was a pack on both SV6 and SS Crewman.

Here is a couple:

This one still has Holden extended Warranty on it:

If we all had the same (good) taste, who would buy all the Fords?
