is anyone out there capable of reproducing a decent woodgrain insert for the HK, HT, & HG model range??

surely, with todays technology it cant be that haard!!!!!!!!

an aftermarket copy of HK is available which is similar to ford farlaine from late 60s, but is so far from HK look, it a joke!!

& to top it all off, they forgot to include "th glovebox insert piece to complete th set!!!!!!!!!!

therefore making it USELESS..

so other than finding contact from bunnings, what can we do??

i look forward to anyones feedback who has struck the same hurdle

Put me down for some as I have my interior almost finished. How soon can I have a sample? Dave I assume you will place the order and I can buy it from direct you.You seem to have the initiative to put your money where your mouth is. I look forward to an early result.

i will definitely look into it.

i already have a list of 30+ people who have that cheapo ford looking stuff in their HKs now & would gladly chuck it in th bin if correct looking woodgrain was available

PS as for you xwute, their current woodgrain listed as blackwood is extremely close match to XY XW era frods & fairlane.

hey Dave, any news on the insert. Are you going to get it made or buy it from someone else? If you have it made at least you have control over quality and timing.

surely someone out there could re-produce a decent "COMPLETE" HK blackwood, woodgrain insert set, that looked "similar to original" instead of th only rubbish available at th moment!!!

every week i receive inquiries on ppl needing glovebox inserts, & i have to explain that original HK woodgrain is nothing like th fordwoodgrain type stuff thats readily available for HK!!

HT coppied stuff is almost acceptable (and i quote 'almost')
as for HG copy, hm, well.. BZZZZ

CMON RARES!! you have funds behind you!??
if ya gunna reproduce something, at least do sum research & pay a lil bit extra to make it ressemble th original, then charge accordingly!!!!!!!
NEAR ENUFF JUST AINT GOOD ENUFF I RECKON

Hi Dave,
Further to your previous posts and by way of explanantion, as with some other product we sell, these particular items are not sourced direct from the manufacturer of the base material but from a supplier who sources from the woodgrain manufacturer and then caries out the processes to make the finished item. I have spoken at length with the supplier and they assure me they are unable at this time, despite having tried very hard to locate a grain closer to the original, to supply any better alternative to the one they now make.
That is not what you want to hear I guess but at least you know where you stand. From our point of view we would much rather be in a position to supply an exact copy however that does not seem to be possible at present. Given that, we will continue to supply the item we currently have access to so that for those to whom strict originality is not so important there will be an alternative available.
In answer to your other point the glove box insert is being tooled up for at present and we expect they will be available in the not to distant future.
As for other new products you might be interested to know this year alone we have introduce nearly 800 new items to our range.
We currently have near 400 in the process of being sourced or produced and expect to do around 1000 next year.
In addition we have just purchased an adjacent factory and are in the throws of setting it up as a dedicated R&D facility.
To this end we have been acquiring various test vehicles as they become available. to date we have FJ, HK & HQ Monaro, HJ,HZ,HQ sed, VB,XY GS,XF and a few others which don't come readily to mind.
So as you can see we are taking your suggestion re R&D seriously.
Regards
Dave Ryan.

P.S. Since you seem to have such an intimate knowledge of our financial situation would you mind giving our bank manager a call and telling him he has nothing to worry about?

Ross at Novotex would be able to get The HK Blackwood Grain made for you . Its made in "sheet plastic" format, thats what its called.

http://www.novatexinternational.com/

But i am sure it will be a 1000 metre minimum deal , and recreating woodgrains correctly is not as easy as it sounds apparently, a large NOS quality piece needs to be scanned , from something like a 1968 Card Table is what is needed as they used the HK woodgrain on them believe it or not . The emboss in the plastic grain is something i have seen in his embossing books at Novotex , so i am sure that side would not be too hard . The HT woodgrain has the same emboss , so maybe that could be run at the same time in the Rosewood Colour , and then could be used for HT Brougham Door Trims and Glove Boxes as well as the console and dashes . As for the HG Elm Burl Walnut Woodgrain, that is exactly the same as Late 60s C Body Chryslers , late 60s Full size Pontiacs and Firebirds , and the repro used in Rare spares console pieces is what the americans use and is quite off. So if someone made that , it could be sold to the americans also . Just some thoughts . HG GTS ,PREM & BRO Glove boxes used a cotton backing instead of the plastic, but they normally are still ok though . Hope that helps

HKTG Parts Recovery,
Could you please elaborate?
I am not aware of any post from Sebring Orange having been removed.
If it is the same as his post of 9:00:12 I can't see any reason why it should be removed. There is nothing "contentious" in it so no reason to remove it. If anything it is helpful as it gives another potential avenue to explore.
Regards
David

Brian, the bigger the better, depends how large the pattern is before it repeats I think. Is your roll about the height of a doortrim and the length of 3 doortrims? sounds like it might be enough. When can you have a look at it? See if you can see the repeat dimensions

Davo can you contact Ross and ask him for quotes?

Davo, make sure you explain to Ross that we will require him to sign a non-disclosure agreement, all scans belong to our group and cannot be used to manufacture for any other party and any product produced including samples cannot be supplied or sold to any other party. I will have the NDA drafted up by a law-talkin guy.
