Asking for abit of advice. I have a HQ GTS with a "11QU" (I know this is from a HQ Statesman) 350 chev engine which I want to keep with the car. I'm rebuilding the car at the moment. I pulled the engine down today to start a rebuild. The motor looks like it has been rebuilt in the past with .040 oversize pistons and port work on the heads. Haven't looked at the cam yet. As I want to keep this motor with the car, what is the general consensus regarding the .040 bores. Hone the bore and fit new rings? Rebore and go larger pistons? Bore looks ok, but I'm no engine specialist. Heads are going in tomorrow for a reco and made good for unleaded. Motor will be rebuilt to stock. I know a crate engine would be cheaper, but I want to keep the original gear, even the stock cast iron inlet manifold. Thanks in advance for replies.
Cheers
Keith

Get the engine shop you are using to measure the bores and find out of it can run again at 40 thou.

Thanks HK1837. I suppose that is the best thing to do. Would you have any idea if they can go up a size to .060 if the bores are worn or would this make the liners too thin.
Cheers
