Does the VR wagon have a history of leaking or rusting out fuel tank ?
My car has a constant smell of petrolaround it and the economy has gone from around 600k per tankful to around 400.
Has anyone in WA got a good tank they want to sell?
Would be nice if it was the long range tank.
thanks.

Not really a common problem as such. The steel tanks do rust a bit, but not to the point of perforation at that age. Although in recent times, Ethanol fuels have caused an increase in corrosion problems in new steel tanks - ethanol holds moisture, which will exacerbate any problem.

Holden only made long-range tanks for the sedans.
There's only 1 size tank for all VB-VS wagons, and that's the 68L one.
HDT did a long range wagon tank, but rocking horse dung is easier to find.

If you really want a long range tank, you can get Brown Davis in VIC to make one (from 2 tanks) for around the $400-500 mark - trouble is you need to find really good cores to send them first.
Cheers,

Mick

thanks Mick.
we don't have ethanol in fuel in WA yet so that is not a likely problem.
Vic is a bit far.
I did replace the 2 hoses that go to the tank boy what a ripoff, you can't buy the stuff in less than 1metre lengths and only use about 200mm of it, at $27 metre so $27 for 1/5 of a metre, = $135 metre. Any one want some petrol line? cheap?
but the hoses were leaking so lost fuel would be a lot dearer than that.
anywhere else it can leak from?
