This photo shows a stainless steel clip/bracket with a hole in it, on the genuine speedo cable in my HK. I presume this is for securing the cable to the body or engine block perhaps - it could simply be co-incidence but the hole in the clip is a perfect fit for the little bolt in the block in the foreground of the photo.

This clip is not referred to in any of the manuals as far as I can see so if it were secured to the block, when removing the engine you could easily overlook it and tear the cable out of the speedo head.

So where does it attach? - can anyone advise exactly where?

Hi, that clip is secured by a philips head screw to a hole (or drill one. If its original hole should be there) below the left lower curve (looking into the engine bay, standig at the front)of the heater box or heater blank plate on the firewall.

I'll take a photo tomorrow and email it to you if my description is too confusing.

That bolt in the rear of your block is for the rear spark plug lead retainer /holder . Should be one either side at the rear of the block .

Thanks Johnboy

Thanks Simon. I will not need a picture now as I have located the spot from your description.

Sebring thanks too - yeah I knew that little bolt was for holding the plug wire retainer but thought there may have been remote possibility that it could have been used to hold the cable as well. Haven't got plug wire retainers in that posi at present because car has extractors on it and am experimenting with different routings to keep the plug leads from frying on the extractor pipes.
