Recently got a 308 put into the van, realised that there are a few plugs on the front of the manifold that seem to have no hoses attatched, but look like they should. After inspecting my holden workshop manual, it appears that what I should have is a cable leading from the distributor advance, to a solenoid valve, which in turn splits the hose into two, which then travel to the carburettor, and the other to the plug at the front of the inlet manifold.
Currently my setup only has one hose leading from the distributor, straight into the carby. No solenoid, and hose attatched to the plug protrueding from the inlet manifolds front end.
My question is, will this be an emmissions violation? I am not sure if it is a big deal or not, but don't really want to take her down to vicroads for the engine swap, and find out the guys who put the engine in did'nt attatch all the gear they should of.
Anyway, if anyone could let me know that would be a great help. I will try and post of picture to help soon.

Yes that is emission control, the solenoid restricts the advance until the engine is at operating temperature. Depending who inspects the car, then yes it may not pass. I can take a photo of the setup on mine and send that to you, please leave your emai

I couldn't see why not, they should be around? OK I'll try and get some pics to you, will have to be next week though as I've lent my digital camera out this week!!
