Hi
I don't do a lot of posts on Fastlane but do have a bit of a look at it from time to time and I reckon it is a terrific forum.
I have owned this beaut beast for since Sept.'07. It is a lovely car which was painstakingly restored by a long time member of the NSW Monaro Jeff Brown.
After the restoration was completed Jeff became ill and he decided to sell the car to his friend Steve. Shortly after this Jeff passed away. I was introduced to Steve by a mutual friend after telling my friend I was looking for a Monaro. At the time I was somewhat frustrated after searching for a good one without success. I went to a Shannons Auction and participated in some heated bidding on the Warwick Yellow Monaro which achieved a record price.....I'm glad I chickened out because I ended up with this Picardy Red one....it is a gem.
I am lucky and proud. I have probably spent a week or two mucking around and tidying it but it thanks to Jeff and Steve it is pretty much as I bought it.During his ownership Steve was meticuluos (read anal...lol).

I know some of you will recognise the car and I would like to find out more about it's history. After its resto it debut'd at the first Monaro Nats (Wangaratta 1998) with a trophy. GM-H choice?? Can you help me with this?

The presentation of this old girl is a credit to the hard work and tender loving care given to her by Jeff and Steve. I hope I can maintain the standard during my stewardship!......

Any help or info/ leads etc would be greatly appreciated.
I'll put a few more pics up as I get them.
Thanks
Nick Moran.

Thanks Rev Green! I worked it out!
Its bloody easy actually!
Go to TINYPICS, open account, upload photos, grab (copy) "IMG" code for forums and message boards for the photo(s)you would like on your Fastlane post, go back to your Fastlane post and paste it where you normally type your comment and PRESTO!

EASY!

Thanks again Rev Green. More pics to come.

Uncle Bob,I wish it did wash up on the beach.....as it cost me a bit! I am very happy with it and am getting to know it quite well as I do I am prioritising the jobs I need to do to get her over the line authenticity wise. One of the more difficult things to deal with is the inconsistency of opinion of those "in the know" when it comes to the correctness of these cars. Each year that goes by reduces the number of people around who intimately know them from direct experience.

I have been fortunate to meet some people who have given me quality advice and info and for that I am most thankful .
Nick

Hi
Thanks for the nice comments.
Well I have now owned this car for a little over two years and I have completely enjoyed it! I get it out in the public eye as much as I can but living where I do any significant car shows are hundreds of Ks away.

I bought it thinking I would have it for a year or so and now after more than two I have no real intent to move it on. Ive done lots of fiddly little jobs on it in an effort to get it more correct. It is an enjoyable challenge and a work in progress and one day when I move it on it will be more accurate. I am fortunate to have had help, input and advice from Ben and Warren and would like to publicly thank them.

I am known to be a Ford fan ( as you can see in my avatar) but I honestly like all Aussie Muscle Cars. Instead of selling the Munro I think I will sell my XBGT soon. When it is gone I might chase an LC or LJ XU-1. I always wondered the "what if" when it comes to the XU-1 V8 or XU-2 idea so Id like to do one as the factory would have.... I reckon It would be awsome.

Another idea is to do the LJ XU-2 theme but with LS1/6 speed/ Big brakes and full modernisation mechanically and subtle creature comforts like cruise/ aircon. mmmmm.

Cheers
Nick

I've always fancied the LC with the stockish 253 in it, IIRC (Harry?) at the time thought that 253 cubes would suffice.
