Yes, I get that but internally, say at L34 release was the term XU2 still used, or was it called the L34. A good example is the parts catalogue supplement. This catalogue covered all of the parts added or changed for the XU2/L34 as a whole & is titled "Torana SL/R with L34 option". The term XU2 is nowhere to be seen. You do see it mentioned in some 1973 literature but not so much in 1974. Dr Terry They pulled XU2 altogether. It was decided by the Vehicle Product Committee. Made formal on 1st August 1973 not to release XU2 at LH S.O.P. and decision to release an L31 engined car with N10, M21, front stabiliser bar, front air dam and rear end spoiler. There is hand written notes on the memo stating that it is probable the car will be labelled SLR 5000. They never used the PO code, its not in the LH POA documents, it was removed prior to 1974. It existed as the LH D69 optioned with L34 engine but only as blank space in the original POA docs , the sheet it would have been on was edited and revised 10 times post 1974. The PO code sat between XT4 (added to LH early in 1975) and XV1 (G pack added early in LH development). |
