Hi Guys,

I've known for a while that my car has some kind of Ackerman mishap going on. It turns right at full lock perfectly... at full lock left it misbehaves terribly. So anyway, I got under the car today for a look at sure enough the "trailing arms" (what are they called on a car where they are in front of the stubs? Leading arms?) aren't symmetrical.

Both images are taken from directly in front of the wheel. As you can see the knuckle on the right hand steering arm (on the left in this image) is tucked inside the rim, where on the left hand side it's well out of the rim.

Obviously, one of them is bent... thing is, I don't know which! If you own an HQ-WB, would you mind measuring from the inside face of the brake disc out to the middle of the knuckle bolt and tell me what you get? That way I'll know which one to remedy.

By the way, just to make it obvious, the part I'm talking about is (very poorly) outlined here:

Thanks in advance.
Col.

You may also have a mismatched pair. HQ (all) and HJ-WB with power steering are shorter than HJ-WB with manual steering.

Oh really? Right, I'll have to check that. This is an HQ shell, but it's got an HZ front, a block from who knows where, VN heads, a ford diff and a toyota gearbox! Who knows where the steering arms came from!

If I was going to replace them both, what are the "best" ones to get? It's got powersteering.

In that case you have to use short ones. So any HQ or any HJ-WB with factory steer.

I think you should Just get 2 "HQ" ones and a wheel alignment.Byrons right..any HJ-WB With power steering has the same ones, but HQ only have the short ones so to be sure I would just get them.
