Do HQ's have the switch that says UP/ANTENNA/DOWN or the one that has a small image of an antenna on it? They both fit and they both look right for a HQ but which switch is the correct one?

Thanks

The one with the picture, simply has a sticker over the writting, so either can be used, just remove the sticker from the later model one.

Is the same switch, differently marked also used for the power
tailgate glass?

Just wondering.

answer is yes. HJ and up have symbols in lieu of words (also LH Torana up)

Early hj yes but but late hj and on no writing under sticker.

It is possibly exactly the same construction. but has different wiring colour code and markings

The HQ GTS sales brochure clearly shows the antenna switch on the dash with words on it, perhaps both were available at different stages.

HQ Antenna switch..

HJ-HZ antenna switch...

I have also come across the later HJ-Z switches with the sticker & have removed the sticker to find no writing underneath, this is also the case with the defog/demist/driving lamp switch, which has had the HJ-Z demist sticker fitted, but not with the rear power tailgate switch, all of which had the HQ writing underneath.

I've seen a different switch around. It's the same style of rocker but has 3 positions (similar to the antenna one) but no spring return & also has a green indicator light in the lower half. It has the word DEFOG on it.

What were these fitted to & why 3 positions (2 ON & 1 OFF) ?

HQ Defog switch, has low & High, but I have never come across one were the low actually works, the light is to let you know it's on, also these stay on even with the ignition off (been caught out once or twice). I also believe the same switch was used on the factory driving lamps for the HQ, but had aux lamps insted of defog & only switch to high position, but I've never seen one.

HQ power tail gate.

HJ-Z power tailgate, notice it's a sticker, with nothing under it. first one I've seen.

HJ-Z LH-X-UC torana Aux Lamp switch.
