That is the same circuit breaker for HQ to WB and VB to VK air con.

I am not sure about the windows in HK to HG, but the HQ to WB use an in fuse holder circuit breaker. If not going for originality then this might be ok.

Power tailgate on wagons is the same in HQ to HZ, so might be worth looking at power tailgates in HK to HG. (maybe)

Sorry could not be more help.

Warren

Hi Warren thanks for your info. yes this is a 40A breaker same as used in HK HT HG tailgates. The tailgate in HKTG runs off the same breaker if you have electrics all round and/or either/either. It is supposed to mount somewhere in the engine bay but i'm not sure where so anybody with a power tailgate but not windows it will be the same. Old Chevs mount them on the firewall, I have a diagram for 56 Chev where they are firewall mounted but nothing for HKTG. The Chevs/BOP used a 30A unless they had 2 power accessories (eg top + windows) in which case they went with a 40, whereas GMH only went for the 40 regardless (at least in HK)

Warren - slightly off-topic, but just to clarify so others don't go looking at the wrong cars to source these breakers. That thermal breaker is used on VB/VC only with Harrison (A/C Delco style) aircon. It re-appears in VK & VL, mounted in the engine-bay fuse box, for the "power options" (windows & locks). And no, it did not bring me any pleasure to post this!

Cheers,

Mick

Don't know if it's gone obsolete, but it was last used in '88 in the VL (the VN changed over to the blade-fuse style plug-in version). I'll dig up some numbers tonight when I can get the books out.

Cheers,

Mick

Just had a squizz in the HK parts cat, the CB is part #4849850 located in 12.276. "Breaker Assembly, end gate window circuit"

Also mentions a lead which goes from the starter motor to the CB, 7435449 for the 6 cyl 161 & 186 and 7436046 for the V8 307 & 327???

Unfortunately no illustration for this one.

Greetings, Using the lower or left side mounting screw of the firewall wiring plug as a guide, measure 3/16" toward the left side of the car and down 1" for the top hole of the circuit breaker. The breaker mounts vertically on 1" centre holes with the mounting flange on the left. This is how the item is in a HG Brougham with all options including air.

The commodore circuit breakers are:

VB/VC Aircon:
Imperial threads: obsolte - replaced by 92011591
Metric threads: 92022818

VK/VL power windows/locks: 92022818

I would hazard a guess that the HK-T-G ones would have been imperial, and hence the later commodore ones aren't an easy replacement. Mind you, are the concours' judges going to check these threads with a thread gauge?

Also, I checked with an auto-sparky mate of mine, and you can still buy universal style ones that look almost the same. he thinks the bracket may be slightly different on the ones he can source new, and suggested searching the Narva website.

Cheers,

Mick

69Brougham - can you post some photos of the door jamb and door cutouts, along with some measurements.

I stripped out a PW system from a donor brougham, and want to refit it to my baby, but I did it years ago and have no idea where the holes are.

I concur with the Git !!
This is where it is on my HG & HT Broughams. Haven't had a HK with lazy glass though, but good bet it's there too
