Does anybody have any idea where i can look for hoses to suit HR 186S with power steering.
Looking for hoses from manifold to thermostat housing - hoses are different from normal ones.
Rare Spares have advised the people who used to make them no longer do.
any help much appreciated.

So this is abit of a tricky one 👍

There are 3 different "sets" of part numbers for Inlet Manifold Water hoses, when fitted to HR's with Power Steering.

Hose - Inlet - HR Power Steering, excluding X2, S eng.........7429788
Hose - Outlet - HR Power Steering, excluding X2, S eng........7429789

Hose - Inlet - HR Power Steering, X2 engine.......7431883
Hose - Outlet - HR Power Steering, X2 engine......7431884

Hose - Inlet - HR Power Steering, 186s engine.......7434167
Hose - Outlet - HR Power Steering, 186s engine......7434168

The 2 part numbers which Dr Terry has quoted above, are actually for a non X2/186s HR w/Powersteer.

Those specific hoses are still available from Rarespares who incorrectly list them as being for X2 w/Powersteer....they have the 742 part numbers printed on the hoses themselves.

https://www.rarespares.n...-x2-with-power-steering

Examples of these hoses fitted to an engine are shown here -

I have no reference for what X2 w/Powersteer hoses look like, but they are not relevant here...

The hoses you require are what is fitted here - part numbers 7434167 & 7434168.

These are exactly the same hoses, as fitted to an HK/HT/HG 186s w/Powersteer specifically to vehicles with factory Air Conditioning. Due to the Air-con pump sitting on the drivers side of the 186s, the Power Steering pump reverts to the passengers side (as in HR), so they utilize the HR style manifold hoses.

This next news is not ideal, however a NOS Mackay set of these specific hoses have recently been listed for sale on eBay. They have however been sold, to none other than yours truly I'm sorry 😊

I would be very interested to know, if they could be reproduced by a modern hose manufacturer?

Using a NOS set of hoses (as these are) would be the perfect answer to making sure these very specific hoses are available in the future, even though the demand for them would be very small.

Sorry for the long post. I'm rather passionate about the weird differences on Powersteering optioned Holden's 👍

These ones are also listed for HK-HG for the same application.

My mistake, I missed the fact that it was an S engine.
