CAMPBELLFIELD, VIC, December 10, 2004 – A celebrated roster of renowned entertainers and Australian hero’s lent their support to The Variety Bikeathon at RSP Australia, held Friday 10th December 2004. This annual fundraiser benefits children within and around the City of Hume area.

The list of prominent participants included singer and songwriter Mike Brady, radio and TV personality Gavin Wood, 3AW Marketing Manager David Mann, Order of Australia recipients, Henry Nissen AO, John Schultz AO, Ken Loughnan AO and Australian Police Medal recipient Rod Collins APM.

“RSP Australia is proud to have such a prestigious group of special guests join us as we invited the local children into our facility to give them a bike and helmet donated for Christmas,” said Les McVeigh, RSP Australia's Managing Director. “Through this annual event, we continue our tradition of giving back to the community and helping those children in need.”

Celebrities joining RSP Australia’s 2nd great Variety Bikeathon Day celebration participated in presenting the bikes and helmets ensuring children walked away with a smile on their faces.

“The beauty of The Bikeathon Day is the excitement on the children’s faces, and judging by their smiles the event was considered a tremendous success” said Richard Stubbs, Manager Sales and Marketing of RSP Australia. “Every bike presented to a child helps us continue our mission of directly participating in our local community.”

This is the second Bikeathon that RSP Australia has been involved in, Australia wide over 1000 bikes have been distributed to needy children.

” I was originally introduced to Variety - The Children’s Charity through the Variety Bash back in 1987. A year later my daughter was born, a perfectly healthy baby girl and I became an extremely proud father. A close friend's baby, born around the same time was not so lucky and the child was diagnosed with all 13 Down Syndrome symptoms (1 of only 3 children in the world to be diagnosed with all 13 symptoms). Seeing this and having been involved with Variety - The Children's Charity, I felt I had no choice but to get more involved in helping disadvantaged children and almost immediately got RSP Australia involved in supporting Variety” said David Rayner, RSP Australia’s General Manager and company Director.

RSP Australia is the Australasian distributor of Pongpara Codan rubber, leading supplier of automotive restoration parts (Rare Spares) and renowned OEM supplier to some of Australia’s major car companies.

RSP Australia, supports Variety - The Children’s Charity on many levels to directly improve the health and well being of children around Australia. The Charities aim is always to raise as much money as possible "for the kids" and have fun doing it! Variety's passion is infectious. Last year Variety of Victoria gave away over $620,000 worth of goods and services. This money was distributed via "appeals". These come as formal requests from individual families or children's organisations.
