2005 Deniliquin World Record Ute Muster
Event Date Sep 30th - Oct 1st 2005

Stuck on Stickers

AN exclusive group of Ute lovers are anticipating the 2005 Deniliquin World Record Ute Muster for a very special reason.

This year, they will have the opportunity to add a purple ``ute-ilize it'' sticker to their existing rainbow collection of stickers from previous musters.

These stalwarts understand the importance of each different coloured sticker.

Perhaps the most coveted sticker is the yellow design as it signifies that this Ute was in Deniliquin on October 2, 1999 to help establish the original world record for the largest parade of legally-registered utes in the world.

Owners of the red sticker can claim they were present for the next big step.

In 2000, the original record of 2839 utes was broken when 2990 utes participated in the event.

The stickers have continued to be issued each subsequent year of the muster, with meteoric success.

Green was selected to represent the muster in 2001, orange for 2002 and silver marked the fifth year for the World Record Ute Muster in 2003.

In 2004 when the world record number of utes was achieved with 4012 vehicles, participants proudly showed off a blue sticker.

But records are made to be broken and Deni is again looking to smash last year's achievement at the 2005 Deniliquin World Record Ute Muster held over the NSW Labour Day long weekend.

To inspire ute owners to get involved this year, they will be presented with a purple 2005 sticker upon registration.

Festival coordinator Kate Pitt said the sticker was symbolic of participation in a unique event.

``It's about the fact that if you have one of these stickers on your ute then it really does mean you are part of something special - the World Record Ute Muster.

``Ute owners see these stickers as a badge of honour,'' she said.

Utes with such highly valued stickers on them have also received excellent financial benefits.

``We have been told that you will get a better sale price if you have all six stickers on it,'' Ms Pitt said.

Ute prices are expected to soar when utes boast a gold sticker that will be issued to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the event.

People around Australia understand that the ``Ute-ilize-it'' sticker symbolizes that a ute and its owner have participated in an Australian rite of passage.

Stickers adorn numerous utes in Deniliquin, and throughout the countryside.

If you follow them, you will find your way to Deni - the Ute Capital of the World.

All roads lead to Deni...for the 2005 Deniliquin World Record Ute Muster from Friday September 30 - Saturday October 1.
