VR Commodore power steering pump and Gen3 style reservoir are used. VT V6 hose used to connect them

VS-VY V6 Commodore power steering pump uses a multi-ribbed type belt so I needed an 11A section pulley to use the pump on the 308. The pulley mounting flange looked very similar to a 308 waterpump so I grabbed a spare waterpump pulley. The mounting bolt spacing was spot on. All I needed to do was enlarge the centre hole to 31mm.

VS V6 power steering pump mounted and correctly aligned. The pump will be driven by the same belt as the water pump. The alternator will run its own belt.

VT 5.0 litre uses a Bosch reduction starter fitted with a heat shield. This heat shield stops you being able to use a main battery cable in the normal position. I fabricated a screw on adaptor that allows the cable to come off the starter toward the front of the engine. This was then covered by some Earls fibreglass sleeving. Also in this sleeving is the B+ alternator wire, start wire and +ve wire to feed the main wiring harness


Rear of the motor is busy. There is the fuel line, fuel return line, nitrous feed line, all the powertrain wiring as well as the map sensor and ignition module. The heater hoses are also ready to be connected..

Some front caliper comparisons
Top to bottom. Corvette C6 Z06 6 piston PBR monoblock front caliper. Next Corvette C6, Falcon BA-BF upgrade, VT-VY upgrade 2 piston front caliper and standard AU2-BF, VT-VY 2 piston front caliper.

I was looking at the Wilson Nitrous web site the other night and I saw this setup. It blew me away. It has 4 individual systems so potentially 4 stages. I would love this not only for the performance but the looks. It looks sweet.

| hahahaha, might want to rethink your choice of engine before bolting on that bad muthaf***er, and i say that as a genuine fan of the plastic. |
11.34@121mph NA now being rebuilt with less cam, much less comp, and enough turbo to smash a holden block to bits.. |

thats an overpriced mutant chev but yeah it'll do.
Me personally, when i get sick of holdens, ill be taking a serious look at the World block that uses sbc internals and takes the lsx heads, best of both worlds and 1/3rd the price of craigs abomination.
400 cubes and twin 74mm turbo's, Oh yeah!!!
the only other option if your stubborn and sentimental like me is the COME alloy block which actually looks like a gmh engine, but its horribly overpriced too.
neither craigs or sam/issy's creations are worth paying that much money just to keep holden heads on it (in my opinion of course and ill add that I am a super tightarse lol) but i admire the money and effort thats gone into getting them on the market.
I sure wish either of them would do an iron block though.

I do love my Holden motors. In my opinion you have to use a Holden in a Holden. Yes I know Holden used Chevs but that's different. Having said that I would love to try something really out there in my next car. What about an old school V12 Jag twin turbo or twin turbo Nissan VK56 V8 or iron block 2UZFE 4.7 Toyota with a roots style blower through the bonnet.

lexus v8 looks like a good thing if youre capacity limited in a street legal car and seem to strong enough to really screw some power into or make the viper v10 fit, that'll stir some people up lol.
im a knuckle dragging pushrod lover so i dont know too much about alternative power plants but theres some interesting stuff around, thats for sure. |

Spent the weekend cleaning out the HZ tonner. Found $4.05, a house key and a pocket knife. Luckily I also found pretty good floors and no more rust than the stuff I have already found.

Brake caliper comparison.
L to R (1) C6 Z06 6 piston, (2) C6 Z51, BA-BF Tickford, VT-VZ upgrade, (3) standard AU2, VT-VZ style and (4) finally VL Turbo, VN,VP V8 caliper


As a brake upgrade for the HZ one tonner I am going to use the BA Tickford style calipers on the front and the VL Turbo front calipers on the rear. Amazingly these VL calipers bolt straight onto the AU one tonner Borg Warner diff. Too easy.

This is a 6PK serpentine belt pulley system I am going to use on the EH. This will replace the current A belt system that has been problematic. The current system tensions the belts by bending them inside out. This is not a problem with the serpentine system so all the problems should be solved. I need to get an airconditioning compressor pulley made also as the current one is a twin A belt

This is a supposedly "rust free" great condition Premier I purchased sight unseen a few years back. My mistake I KNOW. The seller TONY assured me it was in great condition, run beautifully and was mechanically perfect. WELL it was none of these and it ended up being cut up and sent to the scrap yard. All that was salvagable went on ebay and the on panel to be salvaged, the bonnet, went on my own car. The car was at one time owned by someone from the VIC EH CLUB. If you know any history of the car I would appreciate knowing, just out of curiousity.

Gates Drive-Align laser belt alignment tool. I will use this to get the purhcased pulleys aligned and then use it to determine the alignment of the AC compreesor pullley that I need to machine from aluminium.

Ordered a set of LED headlights. They should land in a few weeks. I think they look great and they are literally brilliant. BLOODY expensive though

Finally got some time away from work to fit my you beaut serpintine belt setup to the 355 in myeh. BLOODY BUGGER SH1T, it won't fit. The mounting brackets for the alternator and A/C compressors would all need to be remade and that's too much effort. I have decided to fit this pulley setup to the spare 308 that's likely to go in the HZ One Tonner we will hopefully start soon. To make it work I need a 6PK ribbed style pulley for the alternator and the power steering pump. The power steering pump is from a V6 Commodore so I need an original pulley for it. The alternator is a VS-VT style Bosch V8 unit but I think the pulley off a VN on V6 alternator should bolt straight on.

Did you make those pulleys?
It appears the water pump is underdriven, any particular reason for that?

No, I purchased them off ebay. The guy that made them designed them for racing hence the sizes. Shouldn't be an issue though as I have run similar setups with a stock waterpump pulley and reduced size billet crank pulley. Cooling was not an issue even at low engine speeds.

Got the final serpentine setup sorted. Only needed 2 idlers to get the belt wrap I needed. The passenger side idler will be moved closer to the crank line and will also be the tensioner. Now it's just a matter of creating the templates for the final mounting brackets. Then cutting them and making it all fit..

I made up a short tow cable to attach to the tow hook made a while back. This should keep the tow truck hooks away from my paint.

Fitted the tow hook under car. Ready for loading on the tilt tray..

Tested my tow hook, worked perfectly

More serpentine belt setup
All mounting brackets will be made from 10mm aluminium. Here is the marking out for the drivers side mount. Two of these are needed.






In order to get the serpentine belt setup to work I need to swap the waterpump to the longer Jumbo pump. Therefore I needed to make a 16mm spacer for the crank pulley to realign the two. All other pulleys will then be aligned to these.
