| Hi guys just wondering if anyone has purchased the rear quarter panels from Rare Spares as im thinking of buying some for my HT Monaro just was seeng they are any good |

They are a repair patch panel. You will need to have the tools, patience and experience to make them 'perfect'
Like buying a packet mix cake. You still have to cook it. |

Just bought one for my HK GTS. I wasnt expecting anything perferct, but it has its flaws. The centre line in virtually non existant, the lines aroud the wheel arch mould are not sharp as the original. The issue here is that it wont be a perfect match, requiring more work to be carried out in the rare spares piece. Also the height is not correct unless you stretch the metal. I have a metal fabricator look at it and it will take some work to get it right, including adding the centre line etc. Maybe i got a faulty one, but looks like I'll take this one back. My friend is a metal fabricator having worked for Rolls Royce hand making panels, he said its possible but....!!! Is there anyone at Rares i can talk to or even better who has installed one of these before? Or does anyone want to sell an original drivers side from half of the rear quarter. Thanks

| you could give mario a call from J&M old school panels in thomastown,i to needed replacement panels for my monaro.the rare spares panels give you something to work with although they need alot of time and patience to fit correctly which translates into money if your'e paying someone to fit.I bought a new back panel and the panel which fits between the rear glass and bootlid and new front guards.these panels needed very minor work to fit right,all the lines and folds were crisp and straight and didnt give me any dramas to fit up.I also purchased the inner rear roof pillar panels and rear parcel shelf corner panels from deanno's and found these to be a good fit as well.The rest of the panels i needed to repair rust,i bought a hk sedan bodyshell and unpicked,sandblasted and etch primed these parts.The new repo panels used from J&M compared to rare spares panels are like chalk and cheese.In no way am i bagging rares but being a panel beater and having used other replacement panels from r.spares,i know how much time,patience and care it takes to fit these parts correctly,but as i said atleast they give you something to work with. |

you may be suprised to know but the repro panels from J&M are the same as Rare Spares repro panels |

| no disrespect,but i had the two panels side by side(the panel that sits under the rear screen)and they were so different it wasnt funny.even after i watched the you tube video on the panel being fitted i sort of had confidence that it would be okay,not a chance.The panel from J&M even comes with the panel that is spot welded to the parcelshelf,rares doesnt come with that panel.Being a qualified panel beater i think i know the difference between a good repro panel and a poorly made one.Now i know that i could spend all the time in the world trying to get a poor panel to fit right,but why would i bother when time is to important to waste.I'm not claiming to be the worlds best p,beater but when someone on fastlane asks for advice on these r spares panels im just giving my opinion as i have recently completed a resto on my own car. |

| I can't speak for the J&M panels but the first rear windscreen to boot filler panel I got from RSP (for my HT Monaro) was shocking and in all honesty it probably would have fitted a HQ better. lol. The second one although much better, still did not have nice "sharp / crisp folds". I am not a panel beater but agree with mink07 when you are in business time is money. I know a panel beater that had the RSP rear quarters that he fitted to a Monaro and he had to explain to the customer the extra hours of work required to get them to fit well. |

The rear window panel is one that we make in Australia, if it is not correct we will fix it or change to the imported one assuming that the imported one it is expectable.
