Deja vu, Back to the Future or returning to my roots?
Call it what you will but for the first time in 30 years I own an FJ again, or more correctly a collection of bits and pieces that used to be an FJ!
We picked it up last Saturday in dismal Melbourne rain after a winning E-bay bid.
It doesn't look that great but is actually a pretty good body although it is missing some of the cosmetics like the grille and bumpers.
Without giving too much away I intend to use it as the basis of our next project which I think I can pretty safely say will see an FJ go where no "early" has gone before.
At this stage the schedule is to get it to the sand blasters next week , then to the body man for some much needed rust repairs, followed by a trip to the fabricator's for some "beefing up". I will keep updating as things progress.
Cheers

"What have I done?". I'm now not quite sure, every-one is telling me "Nostalgia is not what it used to be!".
I'm hoping it is! (perhaps I should have just kept going with the Fastback although that is now in mothballs until we have our fun with the early)
Cheers

Get on with it!
I'm still scratching my head as to where to start!
Not really, it's booked for the blasters then it's off to get the sills and things done.

Hi Dave, I'm sure that "early" will cause some discussion when it gets to that place that none have ventured to before. Well, almost none anyway. Regarding the blasting, do you think it's a better idea to have the sills removed before blasting? That way, the inners of the sill can be cleaned up and treated before the new sills go on.

Hi Bob,
You are correct.
The plan is to do exactly that then send it to the panel guy to get the sills, floors and a few other small bits done.
Even though we are still a long way from being ready to fire a shot as Big Kev used to say, "I'm excited!"
I'll post more as things progress.
The invitation is still there to drop in if you are ever down this way.
Cheers
Dave
