Hey boys how you all doin? I was running a hydrolic setup in my 351 clevo & everyone has told me that the solids are much better power wise but require a bit more maintanance etc. I'm tossin up between the Crane F238 & the Crane F246 cam, it's a street car but I want some more grunt, my last hydrolic had 580-590 valve lift & was a bit of a dog down low & really should have been pulling harder. I want a bit more torque down low & want it to scream up hi. I currently have 2v closed chamber heads (relieved) with 4V valves 58cc chamber which made a comp ratio of 10.25:1 how hi can you go with the comp ratio on these cast heads without pinging? Want to do a bit of porting too aparently these 2v heads don't need that much to flow like crazy & maintain velocity, I'm getting new roller rockers & also wondering about these roller lifters & roller cams???? Can you run these on standard Cam bearings? Any idea what it costs to setup these heads properly? I'm hoping for about 450hp at the flywheel or a bit more if possible. Is it really worth buying AFD or CHI heads for $3000 plus (that hurts!)

If your 2V's are any good? 450 is achieveable. Use the F238 it's a great street cam. My mate has one in his 351 2V, makes 252rwkw. The torque is very nice.

His engine setup is :

351 10.5:1 comp
2V closed chamber heads (4V valves)
2V weiand xcelle

Hey buddy thanks for all that info I'll be going for the F238 Cam shaft. The setup I have is as follows

351 10.25:1 Comp
Yella Terra Roller rockers
2v Closed chamber heads (chamber has been opened up a bit) 4V valves think they are 2.19'' & 1.76"

sounds good the F238 will work well. With an F238 don't you don't run out of legs with 4.11's ;) 4.11's should see you around 200kph. Since your manual though you have a shorter 1st gear. Which would suit the 3.5's :)

Good to hear. It's on the money power wise too, so the heads must be good ones.

use a h/duty clutch from an F series truck or you can spend heaps and go an extreme clutch from HP in a box.

Hey buddy I'm in NSW Sydney. Mate it's not cheap setting up a clevo. I spent about $4500 on my bottom end, that's parts & machining work. With the top end heads set me back over $2000 & then the rest of the valve train parts etc another $2000. I built the

XYSedan : for similar $ you can do a Pavtek engine. Their website appears to be offline at the moment :(

Pavtek builds what I guess you would call crate engines? They range from 300-600hp+.
