Caltex has unveiled its new-look brand of lubricants, including specialty oils and chemicals, in Australia.

The range of over 450 products is headed by the flagship products Havoline Energy, a high performance conventional crankcase oil and Delo 400, a market leader in the US diesel lubricant market.

For the last six years most Caltex lubricants were sold under the Ampol brand, but now the company will aggressively promote its own Caltex brand.

International independent testing of Caltex’s Havoline Energy has found that the low viscosity 5W30 lubricant can produce fuel consumption savings of up to six percent compared to other conventional oils.

Caltex will replicate the tests in Australia in the first quarter of 2000.

It will use local motorsport participation to underline Havoline Energy’s credentials, which have already been demonstrated in competition in the United States, Europe and in Australia.

Caltex Delo 400, which has set new standards for diesel engine soot absorption and engine wear control, is positioned to meet tough future standards in emissions, in particular the recirculation of exhaust gas into the engine chamber.

Suitable for all diesel four-stroke engines ranging from small generators to 800 tonne hydraulic mining shovels, Delo 400 is part of a wider Delo range which also covers marine and railroad diesel applications.

The Caltex specialty product range includes Enretech-bioremedial Hydrocarbon Absorbents.

Manufactured from recycled cellulose waste from the cotton industry, these high-tech products offer a biodegradable, non-carcinogenic, non-toxic and non-volatile absorbent solution to oil and fuel spills.

A micro-organism within the cotton pulp ingests and emulsifies the hydrocarbon, effectively neutralising it.

Caltex will also promote its agricultural spray oil technology - a field in which it is the world leader.

Extensive research and development has produced spray oils which effectively combine crop and environmental protection.
