Bulk-order motorhomes contract

A MAJOR contract to supply LT cab chassis’ to motorhome rental giant Tourism Holdings Limited (THL) Rentals has been secured by Volkswagen Group Australia.

The initial order of 265 vehicles will be used in New Zealand where motorhome holidays are immensely popular with young, adventure vacationers, families and older customers looking to tour.

Volkswagen is supplying THL with 170 LT35 long wheelbase vans, 55 LT35 cab chassis’ and 40 LT46 cab chassis’. THL fits specialised motorhome bodies including beds and cooking facilities.

Under the bonnet is Volkswagen’s acclaimed 2.5-litre TDI diesel engine that delivers 80kW of power and 280Nm of torque. 

This powerplant already exceeds the stringent new European emissions regulations for diesel engines.

Holiday drivers who hire the THL Volkswagen LT vehicles will appreciate the standard features including air-conditioning and CD player plus the peace-of-mind provided by standard anti-lock brakes and driver/passenger compartment safety cell chassis construction.

The THL range of Volkswagen motorhomes includes 2-berth, 4-berth and 6- berth models - they will be available in New Zealand from September.

Standard inclusions are beds, linen, stove, microwave oven, and refrigerator. Some have full bathroom facilities including a toilet, shower and hand-basin. All have comprehensive storage cupboards.

Volkswagen Group Australia’s national business manager – commercial vehicles, Matthew Weisner, said the THL contract was the latest in a range of new fleet business opportunities.

“Launch of the LT range – to supplement our existing Transporter lineup – has opened the door to new customers with needs for varying payloads up to more than 13 cubic metres and 2311 kgs,” he said.
