November sales `best-ever’

Passenger car sales of 1066 units during November delivered the best sales month for Volkswagen Group Australia since the company’s launch in January.

Volkswagen’s record November passenger car figures – expected to be confirmed by industry statistician VFACTS – were supported by 106 commercial vehicle sales.

The VW Golf is expected to maintain its position as Australia’s most popular European passenger car, with sales of 567 vehicles, while the trendy Polo small hatchback showed immediate response to the special Dealer pricing of $19,990 (rrp) with 226 sales for the month – a significant improvement over the previous months.

With 120 sales for November, Volkswagen Bora continued its strong showing evident since the June launch of face-lifted models including the V6 4Motion - the fastest production VW ever sold in Australia.

And Volkswagen’s flagship model, the luxurious Passat, also enjoyed a good month delivering 90 sales during November.

With strong numbers of orders already in the system for December, Volkswagen Group Australia is eying 10,000 sales during its first year of operation.

“Like everyone, we experienced a setback post September but I am very appreciative of the Volkswagen dealers who have bounced back from that and we remain confident of achieving 10,000 sales in the calendar year,” said managing director Peter Nochar.

“We now have in place programs for the Commercial Vehicles and Corporate Sales Departments and these programs are starting to kick - when combined with a scheduled delivery to one of our major fleets, Volkswagen is looking to finish the year with another great month.”
