Holden maintains market lead in October

Holden led the market once again in October with total vehicle sales of 12,751. Holden has now led the market for nine out of ten months this year, and the strong October result further illustrates Holden’s sustained sales performance. Holden now leads its nearest competitor on a year to date basis by 1,213 units.

Commodore continued its strong sales momentum during the month with 7,927 units, 578 ahead of Ford Falcon. Commodore now leads Falcon by 23,079 units year-to-date and October’s result set an all-time record 14 consecutive months’ lead over Falcon.

"Commodore sales just keep on keeping on," said Holden’s Director of Sales and Marketing, Ross McKenzie. "The AU Falcon has made no impact at all on demand. It remains consistently high - right across the fleet and private market sectors.

"As this excellent October result shows, Holden is going great guns in terms of total market performance, which will now receive a further boost with the news that our Vectra and Astra models have just taken out major RACV and NRMA awards," Ross McKenzie continued.

"On a year-to-date basis, Holden sales are now (21 per cent) up on 1997, which puts us well on track to achieve our goal of market leadership in ‘98," Ross McKenzie said.

Light commercial sales contributed to Holden’s strong October performance, with Rodeo recording its highest October and year to date sales (1,344 units) and Jackaroo recording its highest October sales on record (346 units).
