Landcruiser goes back where it all began

A leading NSW adventure tour operator is taking Toyota LandCruiser Troop Carriers back to the region where their Australian reputation was forged.

Toyota LandCruisers were a key piece of machinery in the 1950s and 60s when the Snowy Mountains Hydro-electric Scheme was developed.

The company offers mountain bike rides, bush walks, river expeditions, snow adventures or combinations of all of these.

"What customers like about our tours is they rarely have to carry their equipment," company owner John Morrell said.

"Apart from certain stretches where vehicles are not allowed, two Toyota LandCruiser Troopies carry the camping equipment, food, tools and any other gear that is required for the adventure.

"The TroopCarriers are versatile, reliable and almost unstoppable, allowing us to take our adventure seekers deeper into the wilds without compromising safety and comfort.

"Because of their cargo carrying capabilities, they are extremely handy for moving people and equipment and are dependable in case of an emergency."

Mr Morrell has not tried any other brand of 4WD, as he says he has seen nothing else on the market with the Troop Carriers capabilities.

The company’s two Toyota LandCruiser 75 Series Troop Carriers have clocked a combined 350,000 kilometres since the company was established in 1991.

Morrell’s 1987 diesel-powered Troopie pioneered its adventure tours, joined in 1994 by Toyota’s petrol-powered version

The LandCruiser 75 Series is powered by either a six cylinder SOHC 4.2 litre diesel engine or the 4.5 litre Twin-Cam Multi-valve six cylinder petrol engine.
