WiLL shows the way at Brisbane Motor Show

Toyota’s innovative WiLL Vi small car has made its Queensland debut at the 2001 Brisbane Motor Show (February 9-18).

WiLL’s exterior recalls cars of the 1930s and 40s, while its interior is notable for the use of unusual shapes, materials and colours.

Since going on sale in Japan last year, demand for the WiLL Vi has exceeded supply.

The car is the spearhead of a bold brand development exercise intended to appeal to Japanese youth and involving some of Japan’s biggest corporations.

Panasonic is marketing a range of WiLL branded whitegoods, National is selling WiLL computers, and Asahi is even selling a WiLL beer. All the products are being marketed and sold via the Internet.

The bad news for determined local trendsetters is that there are no current plans to market the WiLL Vi in Australia.

Toyota is also using the Brisbane Motor Show to highlight its new Sportivo brand of sports-styled accessories.

The Sportivo range includes body kits, alloy wheels, exhaust extensions, and interior enhancements for most Toyota models, and will soon feature specially developed performance enhancements.
