New record set by End of Financial Year sales

REGISTERING its highest June sales in thirteen years with a total of 6323 units, Nissan Australia has achieved its best monthly sales result since October 1990 and a 17% increase over the same period last year.

The driving force behind that exceptional result was the company’s popular commercial vehicle range. With 4696 units sold, June 2003 was Nissan’s most successful commercial vehicle sales month ever!

Its most popular model, the extreme X-TRAIL four-wheel drive, convincingly outsold all its rivals in the compact SUV segment for the third consecutive month and accounted for 1437 sales in June – its best month on record.

Navara 4x4 sales also hit a new high in June with 1310 units, a 64% increase over the same period last year.

Other outstanding results came from the Patrol wagon with 1181 sales - its best June result since 1999 - and the workhorse Patrol cab-chassis with 411 sales.

Nissan’s popular passenger vehicle range also performed strongly during June, notching up 1627 sales.

The all-new 350Z sports coupe recorded an impressive 181 sales during the month, taking total Z sales in the five months since launch to 913 units – well above the vehicle’s original annual forecast.

And the popular Pulsar contributed strongly to Nissan’s outstanding month with 1359 units. Nissan’s director of sales and marketing, Paul Stead, said the excellent sales result achieved during the second quarter was expected to continue.

“We are in the process of announcing some significant updates to our Pulsar, X-TRAIL and Patrol line-ups, as well as a pre-release sales campaign for our fantastic all-new 350Z Roadster,” said Mr Stead.

“With these enhancements to our popular passenger and commercial vehicle ranges, we expect that Nissan’s winning streak will continue.”
