Within a mere five months since its European market launch, over 145,000 motorists have opted for the dynamic and elegant new C-class sedan.

Thanks to lively demand, the Mercedes-Benz C-class achieved second place in German new car sales in August this year, with a total of around 12,000 new registrations.

"This result shows that the C-class has established itself as the premium car in its market segment," says Professor Jürgen Hubbert, DaimlerChrysler’s board of management member responsible for Mercedes-Benz cars and smart.

"For this reason we are expecting its success to grow even further when the new model family is completed, with the addition of the sports coupé and the estate version in the months to come."

Sales have also kicked-off strongly in the United States and Great Britain, where the new C-class first appeared in Mercedes-Benz dealerships last month.

The new C-class will be launched in Australia in November this year.
