Laser gets the millennium upgrade treatment

Four new colour options, along with new interior trims and power door locks as standard on all models, will take the Ford Laser into the 21st century.

Introduced as a running change on all models from December 1999 onwards, the changes bring the total number of colours available across the range to nine, with eight available for each body style.

Blaze red and twilight blue have been deleted from the product range. And no, we're not sure which colour is at left.  But it's a `99 model, which otherwise looks the same, so who knows...

Internally, the mosaic woven trim on the LXi hatch and sedan has been replaced with carousel velour inserts with plain twill borders, while the GLXi retains aztec and plain velour trim.

The LXi model has also received a security upgrade, with power door locks now standard across the entire range.

When you think back, `Happy New Year’ upgrades are not usually that common but Laser joins a growing band of cars, of widely varying marques, which are being or have been upgraded for 2000.
