The innovative Suzuki Wagon R+
has passed the one million production mark and, in October, overhauled the Toyota Corolla
to take the title as the most popular car in Japan. The double sales achievement is a
clear recognition of Suzukis success in developing a car that has become the
definition of the "small on the outside, big on the inside" concept.
On the road the Wagon R+ takes up the same room as a small hatch but, thanks to its
high seating position, good all-round visibility and nippy performance, it is even easier
to drive.
Inside there is plenty of room for five adults and a good sized boot. There is even a
novel, lift-out storage box under the front seat, which can be used as an icebox.
Pricing has also played a key part in the success of the Wagon R+. Despite its advanced
design and technology, it is the same price as a normal hatchback.
"The Wagon R+ is the ideal car for todays crowded cities," says Bill
Gillespie, General Manager for Suzuki in New South Wales and the ACT.
"It takes up little road space, is economical and environmentally friendly, and
yet provides the spacious interior required on the Australian car market."
