| Chrysler Jeep Australia
sold 884 vehicles last month -- a record
performance for the month of September. Jeep Cherokee spearheaded the
company's sales with 409 sales ~ its best result
this year.
So far this year, Chrysler
Jeep has sold 7935 vehicles -- a healthy 56.6 per
cent increase over the same period in 1996.
"We are well on track
to retaining our position as the fastest growing
franchise in the country," said Mr Bill
Needle, director - general manager for Chrysler
Jeep Australia.
"We expect the new
Jeep Cherokee -- launched last month with a
turbodiesel option ~ will even further increase
our sales," he said.
Jeep retained its No. 2
place in the all-terrain wagon segment. Grand
Cherokee recorded 103 sales in September and
Wrangler 92 sales, as well as Jeep Cherokee sales
of 409 units.
Sales of Chrysler's V6
seven-seat 3.3litre Voyager climbed to 179 units
last month, a clear second place in the people
mover category.
"Low stock levels had
been restricting Voyager sales but now our stocks
are up, we have new model variants, and we now
have the most competitive vehicle in the
family-wagon segment," Mr Needle said.
