| Mazda's versatile 121
Metro recorded its best month since introduction
with 530 sales for October. This represented 66% of the total
121 sales of 804 units.
Mazda Australia managing
director Malcolm Gough said he was very pleased
with the Metro result.
"Sales have been
climbing steadily since introduction in November
1996." he said.
"While the 121
'bubble' has been a tough act to follow, the
Metro is now starting to hit its stride."
The 323 range was also a
winner for Mazda achieving total sales of 973
(584 in Oct 1996) for the month.
Mazda reported an
'excellent' overall October result of 2794 sales,
a 41% improvement over the 1973 recorded in the
same month last year. Of the total, 2348 (1484)
were passenger cars and 446 (489) were
commercials.
Mazda is now 14.3 percent
ahead of the same 'year to date' 1996 period with
cumulative sales of 25, 607 (22,415) vehicles in
a market that is 9.2 percent up.
"The market is strong
and our aggressive stance has enabled us to take
advantage of it," Mr Gough said.
"We are delighted with
the way 1997 is shaping up and we look set for an
excellent overall result of more than 30,000
sales."
