Holden's 'Best Bathurst Banner'
competition was an outstanding success on the
Primus 1000 race weekend. The standard of creativity in
delivering visual accolades to the retiring Peter
Brock added immense colour to the event.
Over 200 messages were
strung around the mountain paying homage to the
master of Mount Panorama - most prepared with the
skill and dedication shown by Brock himself in
his halcyon days.
While the winner, David
Webb of Blacktown in NSW, picked up $5000
prizemoney courtesy of Holden Motorsport, over
250,000 calls jammed telecaster Channel Ten' s
switchboard. Viewers voted for the winning banner
in order to claim a sought after VT Commodore SS
model.
Channel Ten commentator
Mark Oastler said, "This sort of competition
gives the Bathurst spectacle extra flayour. There
were some amazing efforts - it really was a
difficult exercise to choose a winner," he
said.
