Holden's all-new Barina Cabrio debuts in Sydney - 16/10/97

Holden's Olympic-themed display at the 1997 Sydney International Motor Show allowed many their first opportunity to make a close inspection of a guaranteed attention-grabber.

The Barina Cabrio is a jaunty softtop version of Holden's smallest market entrant.

Based on the popular 3-door Barina City, the Cabrio is set to occupy a unique market niche and will be attractively priced at around $19,990.

Powered by Barina's new, more powerful 60kW 1.4 litre fuel injected engine, the Cabrio features power steering, driver and passenger airbags, six speaker stereo, multi-function display with time, date, outside temperature and audio controls, 5-speed overdrive manual transmission or optional 4-speed electronic control automatic.

To gauge public demand, Holden intends initially to test market the stylish Barina Cabrio in the Sydney metropolitan area.

It is expected to be available Australia-wide early in the new year.
