Satria GTi wins "best hot hatch" accolade

Australia’s most prestigious motoring magazine, "WHEELS", has named the Proton Satria GTi among its `99 Satria GTi.jpg (14307 bytes)"Top Ten ‘99" cars.

Wheels’ staff selected the ten best cars launched in the past 12 months using a range of criteria.

Making the list is a definitive measure of a new car’s worth, as the motoring journalists involved are among the country’s most respected and experienced in their field.

Wheels said that it was hard to argue with the performance and price of the new Gti, and went on to say the GTi was " this year’s best hot hatch buy."

"The strong engine, Lotus-tuned suspension, chunky wheels and tyres, quality extras like Recaro front seats combine to make this Malaysian-with-attitude something special." the magazine said.

Other cars in "Wheels" top ten ‘99 lineup included such high flyers as the new Mercedes-Benz S-class and E55 AMG, the Honda S2000 and HR-V and the BMW M3.

Released on to the Australian market in October, the Proton Satria GTi has already captured the attention of a wide range of performance car buyers keen to sample the pin sharp handling and exciting performance.

Dealers of the marque, and Protons’ two new Proton Direct Showcase outlets, have been inundated with inquiries since the car was announced and continue to sign buyers for the new standard setter in hot hatches.

All Proton cars are covered by a 3 year/1 million kilometre warranty and Protec owner assistance program, which also offers national 24 hour roadside assistance coverage for the term of the warranty plus free parts and consumables on servicing for the first 45,000 kilometres.

The Satria GTi is available through Proton Cars Direct Showcases in Sydney and Proton dealers at a recommended retail price of $26,450 plus on road costs.
